Knit Along: Peony Scarf from Gabriella's - Day 1

Billions and billions...

Well, hundreds.  Literally hundreds of teeny, tiny stitches.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love the colors of this Peony Scarf.  I even wound the balls by hand because I loved the feeling of the yarn (and because I do not yet own a swift and winder...yes, I know I need one, I’m working on it).  The colors just have spring and lusciousness and pastel perfection written all over them.

Springy, sherbet-y colors are what’s carrying me through the 400+ stitches of monotonous...ahem...peaceful stockinette stitch.  It’s baseball season at the Pleiter household, which means I’m spending many hours watching my offspring’s sporting pursuits.  You don’t want to be caught looking down counting yarn-overs when your son’s making the play of his career.  But, really, 400 on size 4 needles is itty-bitty, and it’s taken me a long time to just get the first of four required inches done.

I can see the potential, though, in the colors and the lush, ruffly waves that I know make up the second section of this scarf.  I’m gonna see this through, but I may be seeing cross-eyed before it’s over.  Occupational hazard, right?  Reading glasses are the accessory of choice for women of a certain age, right?

Besides all this, it is the perfect time to be knitting a peony scarf.  Outside my house, the peonies are in bloom!

I see a pretty croched scarf in those skeins of yard. I hate to knit but can fly with croching. And once you hit 40 you start to need reading glasses(must be the age thing) LOL I am 66 so I do good to see with my glasses I wear all the time.

Yep, I'm doing the trombone thing with my arms when I read labels, etc. Since I'm 47, I guess I'm entitled. Without my contacts in or my glasses on, I'm utterly useless!
